There is no danger to the life of the serviceman wounded as a result of the Azeris' shooting attack, Spokesman of Armenia's Defense Ministry Artsun Hovhannisyan says in his Facebook page.

Armenia's Defense Ministry has refuted the Azeris' allegations that there was no shooting attack on their part on Friday morning and that it was just a skirmish between Armenian servicemen.

The leader of the Union for National Self-Determination party, one of the fighter for independence of Armenia, Paruyr Hayrikyan, said at today's press-conference that Armenian authorities do not take enough efforts to fulfill the key points of the Independence Declaration. 

He said that adoption of the Independence Declaration by the Supreme Soviet of Armenia opened the way to the process of the statehood formation, but the leaders of the state, in particular, Levon Ter-Petrosyan and his comrades-in-arms were not ready to that and further developments resulted in the course displacement, chosen first. "According to the Declaration, the new and independent Armenia was proving its adherence to the democratic traditions of the First Republic of 1918, in particular, formation of the parliament through the proportional electoral system , as well as adoption of the Constitution through the Constitutional Meeting. None of them were observed", - Hayrikyan said.  

He also added that the same vicious system was preserved up to now, and despite point 3 of the Independence Declaration, the people of Armenia do not own statehood. "We still do not have a strict development strategy of Armenia as an independent state. And we do not fully estimate the idea of independence", - Hayrikyan thinks.

 A School Meals Program will be implemented in the country starting 2014.  The program will involve the elementary school students, Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan told media, Friday. 

The School Meals Program 2014-2016 pursues safe and high-quality school meals for elementary school students.  Basic daily cost of meals per pupil will total 140 drams - 200ml milk (matsoni, juice, hot chocolate) and a 50g roll.  The program will be implemented on the state and donor funds in Vayots Dzor, Ararat and Syunik region. The remaining regions and Yerevan will be involved in the program till 2021. The program will involve 1500 children throughout Armenia. The local communities and parents may make their contributions to vary the menu of the school meals. The program was developed with help of experts from Russia and Israel. 

 One Armenian soldier was killed, and another was wounded after the Azerbaijan party breached ceasefire on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan (Nakhijevan Autonomous Republic), Spokesperson of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannissyan said. The circumstances of the incident will be verified.

23 years ago on this very day, Armenian SSR Supreme Council adopted Armenia's Declaration of Independence, whereby the country's independence process was launched.
