The four non-coalition parliamentary forces of Armenia (ARFD, Armenian National Congress, PAP and Heritage party) tabled a motion of no confidence in the government. But they will hardly succeed, a deputy from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Vardan Ayvazyan, said at today's press-conference.
"One should not forget that even without the "Orinats Yerkir" party, the RPA is a majority in the parliament and can independently adopt decisions for development of the country", - he said. He does not trust in a long-lasting cooperation of the non-coalition forces. "As soon as they manage to gain something significant, for instance, resignation of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, they will start "cutting one another's throat,"- he said. He also added that consolidation of the opposition happened not against the background of public needs but because of ambitions of the opposition leaders. "All of them demand replacement of persons at this or that position, but nobody offers how to settle the problem", - Ayvazyan said.
For his part, a member of the parliament from the PAP, Mikael Melkumyan, said that on 28 March the RPA will understand the whole seriousness of the situation when a motion of no confidence in the government will be involved in the agenda of the parliament. He thinks that some RPA members will also vote for this initiative of the opposition. "The PAP left the coalition as it could not affect the adopted decisions. The RPA still goes on conducting such a policy and monopolizing the parliament and government. But everything has changed now and the non-coalition forces will be able to reach the needed results", - he said.
